For Lauren :: Merry Christmas

I love surprises. Of any kind. Birthdays. Gifts. Playing hide and go seek and sneaking up on an unsuspecting tiny! I love the idea that someone thinks of you! Even loves you so much that they plan something in advance, just for you. Or seeks you out. I have come to love the element of surprise that Christmas morning brings in our house. With tinys 5 1/2, 3 1/2 & 2 you can imagine it doesn't need to be Christmas morning to have surprises!!! but there is something extra sweet about Christmas morning. I long for that moment of surprise and wonder on their face even over a silly toy. We love the opportunity to explain why we give gifts.

I love the surprise that Jesus made as a King coming into this world in a stable. Throwing aside every expectation His people had of what their king was supposed to be. the surprise the shepherds must have experienced when as An angel appeared to them telling them of a baby wrapped in cloth lying in a manger. And their surprise turned to joy and praise as they greeted him! Out tiniest, Lucy sang Jesus happy birthday on Christmas night as we put her to bed, then she said we had to blow out the candles....unprompted, it was a sweet moment and reminder of the best tiny surprise ever; baby Jesus.

This canvas was a surprise for a sweet friend of mine : Lauren. It was her Christmas present from her hubby. This was one i had a hard time parting with, I have this spot on my living room wall beckoning for it! Needless to say. It has a new home. Merry Christmas Lauren. May the words prompt you to remember whats important, who made you, to whom you belong, and who crafted the best surprise ever : GOD.
